Immotec’s business concept is to bring State of
the Art Wireless Access Control Systems to Residential
and commercial clients, thanks to Immotec’s Patented
solution that provides for access rights to be loaded onto
the keys rather than the identification of the authorized
keys into the access point controller.
The VIGIK® system was developed by Immotec for the French Post Office to replace the special mechanical keys that postmen used to carry. Since such keys had found their ways into dishonest hands, the Post Office, in cooperation with public housing authorities, wanted to enhance access security with an electronic key unto which one-time access rights are loaded daily or whenever needed. The administrator has the ability to encode badges with a temporary
validity of up to 84 hours, in which after that the badge/Key automatically cancels itself without any need to program the reader. Immotec supplies the Vigik® electronic access cards to La Poste and electronic key-fobs to residents. The Vigik® system has rapidly become a prerequisite for access control systems in French public housing. As of July 2005, 80,000 buildings were equipped with the Vigik® system in 815 cities throughout France (20% of the subsidized housings, 5% of all apartment buildings).
Banking on the nationwide acceptance of Vigik®, EDF, the French Electricity company, has decided to join the program and recently equipped around 200 branches with Vigik® loading systems, starting with all branches in the Paris metropolitan area.
Immotec’s business idea is to introduce Access Control Systems that are consistent with the Vigik® Protocol to the Canadian and US Market.
